Five-ingredient grain free turkey meatballs packed with flavor! The best protein filled addition to any meal.
Adding protein to every meal is so important. Protein is involved in every bodily function, and it helps regulate blood sugar levels and boost your energy. However, it can be tricky to always have high quality protein sources on hand. Some days are too busy to grill a chicken breast or broil a piece of salmon.
In step these turkey meatballs! They can be made ahead in batches, and they keep well in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for months. They can easily be eaten cold, or to reheat them I wrap them in foil and place them in a 325 degree F oven for 10+ minutes. They’re made with simple ingredients, require minimal prep, and are incredibly versatile.
I’m a huge fan of pasta (Tolerant Foods, Banza, and Trader Joes are my go-to brands.) I eat in at least once a week whether it be with my favorite warm cherry tomato sauce or cold with some fresh greens and pesto dressing. These meatballs not only taste amazing in a bowl of pasta, they also help make the meal more satiating thanks to the added protein and nutrients from the turkey.
While meatballs with pasta and red sauce seems like an obvious choice, these meatballs really taste good with everything! They are to die for with zucchini noodles, tomato sauce, almond milk ricotta, and a sprinkle of brazil nut parmesan (pictured above) and equally as good in a bowl with some greens, roasted veggies, and avocado!
While these meatballs are made without breadcrumbs or cheese, like many traditional recipes, they are still juicy and packed with flavor. Pan searing them first gives them crispy brown edges, and finishing them in the oven keeps them so tender.

- 1 lb ground dark turkey
- ¼ cup parsley, chopped
- ¼ cup onion, chopped
- ¼ cup basil, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- avocado oil for frying
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Place all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl with a few cracks of black pepper and mix. I find it's easiest to do this with my hands, but a large spoon will also work.
- Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat with a generous drizzle of avocado oil so the bottom of the pan is coated. Roll the turkey mix into balls and place in the pan. Allow them to sear for about 8 minutes, flipping them to a new side every 3 minutes or so to allow them to brown.
- Transfer the seared meatballs to the baking tray and place in the oven for 12 minutes to finish cooking. Enjoy!
